Lorren Snowwolf
Lorren Snowwolf, a queer Portland-based tattoo artist draws inspiration from his childhood, education, and creative experiences thus creating Snowwolf Ink Tattoo Studio.
In his early years, Lorren drew inspiration for his artwork from the beautiful rural landscapes of the Four Corners region of the United States. His natural curiosity about the Southwest landscape and his family's history was stoked by the fact that he was born and raised in Colorado.
Lorren's mother's Native American and Spanish heritage, rooted in Taos and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and his father's Native American, Armenian, and Irish ancestry, shaped his perspective on his surroundings and the art he creates.
Lorren later pursued a undergraduate degree in Cultural Anthropology, which concentrated on the study of primitive cultures, religions, and their storytelling practices through wearable practical art. Lorren has created work over the years in a variety of mediums, from fine art to functional art. When Lorren was a small child, he also learned Navajo weaving and spinning. He started attending summer art classes at Rocky Mountain School of Art and Design at the age of eleven. He received four scholarships from art colleges after graduating from high school.
Flash forward to 2020, he was first exposed to pyrography during the pandemic. He discovered that tattooing was an additional transferrable career to explore with this artistic platform.
Over the years, Lorren has undertaken a number of projects and worn a number of hats. His wide range of ethnic heritage, educational and artistic experiences have given him the ability to relate to everyone he meets.
